John is qualified to give Equity Release Mortgage Advice and is a member of the Equity Release Council
Later-life and equity release solutions are complex and highly personal. Advice will always be based on your individual circumstances to ensure you fully understand the long-term implications before making any decisions.
A type of Equity Release mortgage secured on your home where you retain full ownership, with no requirement to make monthly capital repayments. Interest is usually added to the loan and repaid when you pass away or move into long-term care, although some lenders allow voluntary or monthly interest payments to help manage the balance. The most suitable option will depend on your personal circumstances, needs, and long-term plans.
Similar to a lifetime mortgage, but assessed on income and affordability as interest payments are required. This option can sometimes allow higher borrowing where income supports it, making it suitable for those with reliable retirement income who want to manage interest costs while retaining ownership of their home.
A mortgage where only the interest is paid during the term, with the full loan repaid at the end of the mortgage. Lenders will typically require sufficient equity and a clear repayment strategy, such as savings or investments, and affordability is assessed based on income. Maximum age limits vary by lender.
A scheme where all or part of your property is sold for less than market value in exchange for the right to remain living in the home, usually rent-free, for life. ME Financial Services does not advise on Home Reversion schemes, but John can refer you to an approved specialist adviser if required.
